Kotva accepted to IGDS department store association

4 June 2018

The Kotva department store in central Prague has been accepted in London as the 42nd member of the IGDS association of department stores. Considered to be one of the most interesting buildings of the 1970s and a symbol of Prague, Kotva joins the ranks of Selfridges, KaDeWe, Printemps, Rinascente, Nordstrom, Tsum and others. The store was acquired in 2016 by Pražská správa nemovitostí, which has major plans for the store.

“Our intention is to turn KOTVA into a destination where both the visit and the shopping will become an unusual and extraordinary experience. Membership of IGDS will provide us with a unique opportunity to develop and share trends and best practices in the industry. All this for the sole purpose of becoming a European-class department store,” says Leoš Kocman, Kotva’s, general manager of the department store.

IGDS is the largest department stores association in the world, with more than 40 members from 38 countries and sales of US$ 75 billion.
