Retail revenues rise 5.6% in 2017

Revenues of Czech retailers rose 5.6 percent in 2017 roughly the same pace as in 2016, though the increase in December (4.7 percent) was slower than the 7.8 percent jump in November. The strongest growth, 21.4 percent, came in goods sold over the Internet using delivery services. The results, provided by the Czech Statistics Office, don’t include automobile sales. Revenues from car sales rose 2.3 percent, fashion sales rose by 10 percent and Czechs spent 8.2 percent percent more on culture, sports and recreation. When the overall figures are adjusted for seasonal differences, the total sales figures were 6.1 percent higher.
