The investment, which could go as high as €1.5bn, would result in a pipeline of between 744 and 1015 kilometers in length. “We’re doing well,” according to the Minister of Economics Peter Žiga. The country has signed memorandums on cooperation with Hungary and Bulgaria. “We’re just missing the memorandum on cooperation with Romania and then the whole Eastring project can basically get underway,” he said. The project is being supported by the European Union, which considers it to be a strategic investment in the region’s energy security.
