There’s a fight brewing, according to the daily E15, between Prague’s once and future outlet malls. The news server reports that Fashion Arena Prague Outlet has been attempting to prevent its tenants from opening in its newest competition: Prague The Style Outlets, a new outlet center near the Prague airport that’s due to open in April.
A Prague court has reportedly issued a temporary ruling giving tenants the right to open elsewhere. Dalibor Hála, speaking for Fashion Arena is quoted as saying the outlet would appeal the decision. “We believe that the temporary ruling will be rescinded on the basis of the appeal,” he told E15. Martin Kubišta, director of The Style Outlets, claims that the attempt by Fashion Arena to control its tenants’ business illegal. “The approach by the owners of Fashion Arena is patently in violation of free market behavior,” he said. “Rather than fighting for its market position in a normal way, the owner of Fashion Arena is trying to retain its position using forbidden methods.”
