Construction is to get underway this spring on a shopping mall in Vsetín. Vsetíns’s mayor, Jiří Růžička, and Valatrans owner, Jaroslav Vala, signed a joint venture this week on the investment, which should be finished by the summer of 2019. Work will begin with the demolition of a ČSOB building that’s on the site where the city will build a parking lot. At the same meeting, Valatrans agreed to rent an additional 564 sqm plot from the city for five years where it will build a food and beverages facility. It will then pay the city a one-time fee of CZK 1.4m in order to take ownership. The CZK 250 million shopping mall will include bowling, a grocery store and an athletic center. Upon completion of the work, the Czech Railway Authority is scheduled to begin reconstructing the nearby Vsetín train station.
