Pizza Hut is reentering the Czech Republic. The chain is set to open its fast-food concept Express at the Palladium shopping center in Prague 1. The Prague location marks the start of a wider expansion, according to the licence owner, AmRest, which plans to open 70 Pizza Hut restaurants across the Czech Republic by 2021 and hire 1,500 people. Pizza Hut had two restaurants in Prague in the 1990s but withdrew from the market in 2004. The brand is also looking to strengthen its position in Slovakia, where it has had a continuous presence since 1997. The Polish branch of AmRest signed a master franchise partnership with the US company Yum Brands, which operates Pizza Hut, KFC and Taco Bell. Under the deal, the company will open 300 new Pizza Huts across Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Serbia and Croatia.
