Lidl tops retail sector in Croatia

22 August 2017

With more than 90 stores and turnover of €540m, Lidl has taken the top spot on the retail market in Croatia. It had occupied the second spot among local retailers until Agrokor collapsed but is now the country’s fastest growing retailer, with revenues doubling since 2010. The company arrived in Croatia in 2006. The owner of Lidl is the Schwartz Group, the fourth largest retail company in the world. Lidl has been unveiling its new projects in Zagreb, Krk, Crkvenica and Medulin, and opening its improved quality stores. In Slovenia, the company controls roughly one-third the market, while its store Pula turns out to be the most profitable of the entire group.
