There’s a growing list of competitors jostling to take over the electronics chain Avans from its troubled owner Domex, as the Polish Press Agency reports that the companies AB and Media Expert have recently joined the fight. After Domex filed for bankruptcy in April, its assets were placed in the hands of an executor, Janusz Skiba, who says that most of the bidders have requested anonymity. But he did reveal that one offer has been submitted by a US investor.
“Some of the investors are interested in taking over the entire portfolio, but some of the offers are just for the most profitable store [in the Avans chain] or the warehouse properties,” says Skiba. He admitted that while he’s in a hurry to finalize the bankruptcy proceedings, selling the entire portfolio may prove difficult. Domex had more than PLN 380m in liabilities when it collapsed.
