About 14 percent of those working in Hungarian earn minimum wage, according to a survey conducted by the economic research institute GKI. Approximately half of these people earn the minimum wage for unskilled workers, which amounts to HUF 138,000 per month, while the rest earn the minimum wage for skilled workers, which totals HUF 181,000. Companies with 11 to 20 people on their payroll pay 43 percent of their employees on average minimum wage, while firms with a headcount of more than 250 pay just 7 percent of their staff minimum wage, according to the survey’s findings.
