Action opens first two Czech stores

28 August 2020

The Dutch-owned discounter Action has joined the rush to cash in on thrifty Czech consumers by opening two stores. The openings were supposed to take place in April, ut those plans were ruined by the coronavirus. “Just like other companies, we also had to change our plans because of th eCovid-19 situation,” said Sander Van der Lann, Action’s CEO. “But now we’re successfully planning our expansion in the Czech Republic according to the original plan and will soon be opening a total of five stores.” The first two stores were opened in Hradec Kralove and in Kladno and three more are due to open within two weeks in Ostrava, Opava and Frydek-Mistek. Each of the stores is expected to be able to operate with just 15 employees. The company claims it will offer a total of 6,000 items, 1,500 of which will cost less than CZK 25.
