Airport shopping in Prague to get a CZK 230m facelift

27 August 2015

Václav Havel Airport’s retail space is set to undergo a CZK 230m redesign. Lagardere, the French company which operates 80 percent of the shops at the Prague airport, agreed to pay more than half the total cost. The new concept will have passengers walking through the shops on their way to their departure gates. This walk-through concept at other airports around the world has increased retail revenues by 20 to 30 percent, writes the server idnes.cz. Terminal 1 is set to get a facelift next year, with Terminal 2 will follow a year later. Chapman Taylor is designing the new interiors. The airport has netted CZK 1bn from retail rents. Retail leases are scheduled to end in 2019. The airport will then launch a tender for a new retail operator.
