Construction broke ground on the Akropole shopping center in Riga. At 98,000 sqm, Akropole is set to be one of the largest and most modern shopping centers in the Baltics. It will feature more than 200 retailers, including brands like Zara and River Island as well as cafes and restaurants. The property will also have an ice rink, bowling alley and Latvia’s first IMAX cinema. Investment costs are estimated at €177m, 60 percent of which is coming from SEB Banka. The €106m loan is the largest in the bank’s history. Akropole will be part of the Lithuanian Akropolis Group, which operates shopping and recreation centers in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Bulgaria.
