Alza.cz back online after catastrophic system failure

23 May 2018

The largest Czech e-shop came back online Tuesday night, more than a day after a hardware failure made it impossible for customers to order goods. “All of Alza.cz’s systems are now functional and fully operational and the logistics center is handling orders,” said spokeswoman Patricie Šediva. Problems began late Monday afternoon and were not resolved until 7pm on Tuesday. Šediva said the company’s entire data storage had failed, forcing it to carry out a complete renewal of data overnight on Monday from back-up copies. Alza.cz was used by 2.9 million different customers in 2017 and handled more than 7.9 million orders.
