13 July 2020

The Czech online retailer has been fined HUF 892 million in Hungary for false advertising related to its Black Friday marketing campaign. The Hungarian Anti-Monopoly Office (GVH) charged that Alza.hu had paid for advertisement promising discounts of 80 percent on goods that were pictured in the shots but that weren’t actually on sale. The GVH complained that only 10 or 20 products were actually offered at such a radical discount. Lupa.cz reports that the the GVH had at first intended to charge Alza.hu just HUF 892 million but added an extra HUF 30 million when the company failed to cooperate fully in the investigation.
