Alza.cz rolls out food deliveries for non-perishables

24 March 2020

The biggest Czech online retailer Alza.cz has added non-perishable food items to the list of items customers can have delivered straight to their doors. Originally an electronics specialist, Alza.cz had already expanded its line of goods to include drugstore items, pet food and sports equipment. But with panic buying continuing to overtax brick and mortar grocery stores, the company is now targeting their biggest hits. It’s putting the move in the light of a corporate responsibility initiative. “We’re aware that buying online at this time can help all of our households fulfill the strict security measures better,” said Alza’s sales director. The company’s online shop will offer rice, pasta, flour, canned goods, beans and various dry mixes. It’s unclear what impact this is likely to have on delivery times, however. Already, it’s not uncommon for next-day deliveries to be delayed by four to five days.
