Alza.cz rolls out special short-term laptop rental program

11 March 2020

Czech employees are being forced to work from home in increasing numbers, whether it’s because they recently traveled abroad or now because school has been cancelled for the whole country. But not everyone has a company laptop they can simply take home and do work on. So the biggest Czech online retailer Alza.cz has modified an offer it has for leasing laptops and telephones to companies. The original program forced companies to commit to an 18-month lease period, but this has been shortened to just four months. Alza’s spokeswoman Patricie Šediva says the company became concerned about the potential impact of the coronavirus back in December and began building up its stock in a large range of electronic goods to protect itself against supply chain disruptions. She said the company is anticipating problems in the second and third quarters of the year. “You have to realize that goods that are now arriving in the Czech Republic were put on the ships before the crisis hit China, when factories were operating normally. Production of goods in China is still very disrupted. So, realistically, we’ll start feeling the impact of the cut in deliveries in April and beyond.”
