The Czech online leader Alza.cz will be expanding its network of pick-up boxes by 100 in time for Christmas, giving it a total of 200. The retailer’s experience is that up to 75 percent of its customers prefer to use the boxes during the holiday season, most likely as a way of avoiding the lines of standard pick-up points. The new boxes will be set up in some of the smaller cities around the Czech Republic, but also in Slovakia and Hungary. This includes the biggest-ever AlzaBox installation which will be in Horní Počernice, offering a delivery time of just one hour. Alza.cz customers picked up goods worth CZK 600m from AlzaBoxes in 2018 and the figure is rising from year to year.
