AlzaDrive’s popularity causing headaches in Bratislava

30 April 2020

An innovation by the online electronics retailer Alza has proved so popular in Bratislava that its success is causing unexpected headaches. The company opened an AlzaDrive, a store that offers a pick-up window next that allows customers to pick up the goods the ordered without ever having to park. The problem is that it’s located next to the city’s bus station and that during rush hour, the line of cars waiting to pick up the latest mobile phone or coffee maker is interfering with the movement of buses trying to leave the station. The story was picked up by the server Aktuality.sk, which reports that Alza is aware of the problem but claims it’s only a problem around 10 a.m. and at 4 p.m. Still, it’s trying to solve the issue by opening a second pick-up window to speed the flow of customers. Alza also suggested that if there’s a long line, customers could use a parking lot for a fruits and vegetables store that’s 50 meters away and walk to the store.
