Amazon introduces Robotics program at Wrocław’s distribution center

15 October 2015

Amazon is introducing its Robotics program at its Wrocław distribution center. Several hundred robots will automatically lift and deliver shelves of products to workers. The new system is expected to increase the efficiency and optimize delivery times. The US company claims the new system will increase capacity at the center by 50 percent.

Amazon’s representatives said the new robots will not cause any staff reductions.
“There’s 170 highly-skilled employees currently working in the center,” said Roy Perticucci, vice president of Amazon’s European operations. “When the system was introduced in the US in 2012, we doubled our workforce more than five times.”
