The Billa chain launched a pilot version of its e-shop in the Czech Republic yesterday, available in Prague and Brno. It offers customers delivery of food, drugstore goods or flowers. The company plans to expand the service to other cities after evaluating the trial run, the company announced.
The e-shop has 7,000 items at the initial stage, and DODO couriers will deliver them directly from warehouses in Prague and Brno. The minimum purchase value is CZK 200, and customers can get free shipping, the company said. “Our vision is to be more accessible to customers so that everyone who wants to buy from us can find their favourite Billa around the corner. That is why we have been striving for a long time to expand our network to fulfil this vision. The launch of the new e-store is helping us greatly in achieving this goal,” said Billa’s CEO Liam Casey.
Before the company launched the pilot version of the e-shop to the public, employees tested its operation, spokeswoman Dana Bratánková said.
Albert, Tesco, Penny, Coop, Rohlík.cz and Košík.cz also deliver food and other consumer goods in the Czech Republic. The Globus chain, on the other hand, offers a delivery service in Prague’s Zličín and Ostrava. Lidl also has its own e-shop, where non-food goods can be ordered.
