Bitcoin machine opens in Budapest

26 August 2014

The Hungarian capital of Budapest is the latest city to see a bitcoin machine be made operational within its borders. The news comes just days after Manhattan saw the installation of its first ATM for the virtual currency. Other recent newcomers to the craze include Dallas, Canberra and the Isle of Man. Budapest’s machine is located in Anker Klub on Anker köz. Customers feed forints into the machine in return for which they receive bitcoins in their “wallet”. Those who lack this piece of equipment can have a code print it out a QR code which can be used to collect the money later. The exchange rate for bitcoins peaked last December a more than USD 1,100, but has since halved in price.
