Blue City Shopping Center received the BREAM In – Use v.6 ecological certificate with a very good grade. This means that Blue City is an ecological building and operates in accordance with the principles of sustainable development.
Blue City received this industry award in two Asset Performance categories (assessment of the building, i.e. structure, fittings, installed devices and systems) and Management Performance (assessment of facility management).
The certification process took into account such criteria as: water consumption, CO2 emissions, the impact of the materials used on the environment, the building’s impact on the well-being and health of its users, location and communication solutions, waste management, space management and minimizing pollution. the environment.
“Granting the BREEAM In-Use v.6 certificate is an appreciation of our activities related to the implementation of a number of environmentally friendly solutions. From year to year, we try to improve Blue City’s functioning. In both assessed categories, we achieved a high result, which confirms that we care about the high standard of processes related to the maintenance of the building. Blue City was built over 20 years ago, but thanks to systematic development, it is not inferior to younger shopping centers,” said Yoram Reshef, vice president of Blue City.
Blue City has an energy-efficient air-conditioning system in public areas, which required large financial outlays from the center. The system is supported by 80 air handling units, 100 percent of which are they use fresh air, not fresh air from a closed circuit.
In addition, water and energy saving systems have been installed in the center. Lighting is being gradually replaced with LED lighting. The architecture of the building favors ecology. Thanks to the glass dome in the roof, daylight is also largely used. Nesting boxes for birds were placed on the roof of the center and on the roofs of the multi-storey outdoor car park.
