Brands leaving and entering the Czech retail market

26 August 2020

There are a number of retailers leaving the Czech market in the wake of the coronavirus crisis, though some were allegedly making preparations even before March. According to a report by CBRE, these brands include Cameieu, Forever 21, Freywille, Thomas Sabo, Tous, and it includes Bontonland in the list as well. But it also names a number of new players arriving on the Czech scene, such as ASSOS, Kinoko, Rebel Queen, Saint Laurent, Bonami and the discounters TEDi and Action. “The fact that these brands are currently entering the Czech retial market confirms data and trends from our last retail survey from June and July,” said Milan Massa, Head of Retail Advisory & Transaction Services. “It showed that despite the growing popularity of online retail, e-commerce is the main sales channel for just 11 percent of those surveyed. The company claims there are more retailers prepared to enter the Czech market but are still looking for the right location to become available.
