BRD Group reports a decrease in profit by 35.7 percent in 2020

11 February 2021

BRD reported a net profit of RON 963 million in 2020 compared to RON 1.499 billion in 2019, down 35.7 percent. “The year 2020 has been marked by an unprecedented health crisis, which has quickly turned into a severe economic crisis. Although an economic recovery is expected, its magnitude and timing depend largely on health developments and the implementation of recovery programs. Banks are key players in economic resilience and recovery, and in this difficult context, BRD has acted quickly and efficiently to fully and continuously support its customers, while adapting its organization to ensure business continuity and quickly implement measures to mitigate the negative financial impact,” said Francois Bloch, CEO of BRD Groupe Societe Generale.

Approximately 40,000 customers received a postponement of loan repayment. The net loans of the BRD Group, including leasing receivables, registered an increase of + 0.5 percent compared to 2019, reflecting the return of activity in the second semester after the significant impact of the restrictive measures.
