British consumer confidence soaring

23 December 2014

British consumer confidence hit a four-year high in November, according to Lloyds Bank’s most recent spending power report. Figures show that consumer confidence reached an overall score of 154, up three points from October. London was the the most positive region, while Scotland ranked the least positive region. The bank’s report points out that gas, electricity and fuel bills have continued to drop, saving households on average GBP 150 over the year.

Of the 2,000 people surveyed by Lloyds, 23 percent said they feel they will have more disposable income going into 2015, while 17 percent believe they will have less; 56 percent, meanwhile, said they will likely have the same amount as they do now. Respondents were also more positive about the UK housing market.
