Bucharest retail pipeline for 2014 among highest in CEE

4 April 2014

Bucharest, Kiev and Sofia are the only capitals in Central and Eastern Europe where developers are building over 100,000 sqm in new shopping mall space, according to a new report by CBRE. Bucharest ranks 45 of 54 cities around the world where shopping center space exceeds 100,000 sqm.
Bucharest has a pair of large centers underway, including the 75,000 sqm Mega Mall commercial center and the 70,000 sqm ParkLake Plaza. When it comes to biggest commercial spaces, however, China tops CBRE’s list. The country is expected to deliver one of the biggest retail centers the global market has seen in recent years in 2014.
