In an effort to compete with newer, more modern malls, Bucharest’s landmark Bucur Obor building is set to undergo a €4m remodelling effort. Work is expected to start later this year, with completion is set for summer 2016. “After the remodelling only 150 to 160 of the current tenants will remain. We will only keep the best ones,” said Gelu Manea, Bucur Obor’s general manager since 2001. The building currently has 300 tenants. For many years, Bucur Obor store was the only shopping center in the area.
