BZ Group started construction on a new Freshmarket at the corner of Tomášikova and Rožňavská streets in Bratislava. The store is going up between Slovenská sporitelna and the old Ikea building and should be completed this spring. The new building will offer 4,100 sqm of usable space on two floors divided into 60 to 80 units. Andrej Slezko, BZ’s sales director, says that the new space is already 80 percent leased to retailers who are currently operating at the old Freshmarket site.
BZ Group signed a deal with the Interior Ministry, which includes exchanging the old Ikea building for some properties owned by the Slovak government. The ministry plans to turn the old Freshmarket site into an ESO center, which will be staffed by 375 employees.
