The Benevo Group is reportedly hoping to sign Carrefour for its Victoria City shopping center, which will go up in Bucharest’s Bucurestii Noi neighborhood. Benevo was left scrambling to find a new hypermarket operator to anchor the project after Cora pulled out. Construction, which was set to start in July, cannot begin until an agreement is reached with a new hypermarket chain. Neither Benevo nor Carrefour have commented on the matter. However, the French retailer did say in a statement that it is continuing its expansion efforts “on all formats.”
