Chrudim plans to expand the West industrial zone on the outskirts of the city towards Čáslav. It agreed with the owners of other lands to buy. The current area of the zone is almost full and those interested are still asking for more space, according to Mayor František Pilný (YES).
“We have requests from companies that want to operate here immediately. At the same time, we are approaching neighboring Markovice, so I would like there to be quiet operations. We record a request from CityZen, which wants to build a line for the production of so-called smart T-shirts. We should not to leave only because we are not able to offer them land,” said Pilný.
According to Deputy Mayor Petr Lichtenberg (Chrudimáci), the city wants to buy a total of 29,500 sqm for about CZK 16 million. Land sales are complicated by the fact that one of the owners lives in Los Angeles. If no other solution was found, City Hall representatives would have to fly to the United States and settle the transaction on the spot. The city has already set aside CZK 80,000 for the trip.
The West industrial zone with an area of 33 hectares, the establishment of which cost Chrudim about CZK 100 million, is largely full. For example, the company Dřevovýroba Ficek from Chrudim or the manufacturer of tubes for Siag wind farms work here. The city also sold the land to the company Sofiko, which produces baking sheets and various types of molds for bakeries, or the manufacturer of car silencers Kayaba. The plots in the West industrial zone are also owned by the Austrian chain manufacturer Pewag or the Chrudim companies Monas Trade Company, Redleta and Burkoň or the Slatiňany company Stavební huť. The town hall has kept the land on which the city wants to build a second larger collection yard. The smaller industrial zone North at the exit from the city to Pardubice is already sold out.
