The City of Olomouc will start the construction of a tram connection between the city’s historical center and the Šantovka in mid-June. Both the private and the public sectors are involved in this re-development of a vast brownfield in the inner city of Olomouc. The result is to be a totally new neighborhood that will offer a shopping center, offices and flats. Swiss Confederation is co-financing the project, having contributed CZK 225m as part of the Czech-Swiss cooperation program. Construction work on Galerie Šantovka mall has been underway on the plot since February. The developer, Galerie Šantovka, plans to complete the mall in autumn 2013.
