The Coop supermarket chain will expand its regional portfolio by more than 200 shops after three new companies join its franchise network, which will increase the group’s annual revenue base by as much as HUF 90bn. The the companies — Palóc Nagykereskedelmi Ltd, Polus Coop Kereskedelmi és Ipari Ltd and Piliscsoport Kereskedelmi Ltd — were previously part of the CBA franchise. Hungary’s retail sector has been steep decline for several years, with food retailers the only ones to continue relatively unscathed as a sector.
