Spektrum, a 20-year old shopping center in Čestlice on the southeast edge of Prague, closed for business over the weekend after engineers determined the structure was unsafe. The mall is owned by CPI Property Group, which had planned to keep the mall operational until the summer, when it would be replaced with a new mall. “The safety of our visitors and tenants is always our highest priority,” said Onjdřej Křivanec, manager of OC Spektrum. CPI is planning to build an up-market strip mall targeting the wealthier portion of the catchment area that is currently served by the surrounding retail zone in Čestlice.
