Croatia offers emergency wage support plus loan and tax deferrals

20 March 2020

Croatian lawmakers have approved a wide range of emergency measures to free up HRK 30bn in public funds to support employers by covering the salaries of employees. The measures will allow companies impacted by the coronavirus to defer the payment of public benefits, income tax, corporate income and payroll contributions for at least three months. Companies who take advantage of these new measures will have two years to make up the missed payment.
Similarly, individual residents will be allowed to defer loan payments for three months. While the details are still being agreed upon, it’s clear that the deferrals will extend to mortgages, cash, and consumer loans.
