The current Consumer Confidence Index (BWUK) has decreased by 3.2 percentage points. in m / m terms and amounted to minus 44.9 points in August this year, according to research carried out by the Central Statistical Office (GUS).
All components of the index were lower than a month ago. The largest drops were recorded for the assessments of the current ability to make important purchases and the current financial condition of the household (declines by 6.3 percentage points and 3.6 percentage points, respectively). For the remaining components of the index the declines were as follows: 3.3 percentage points for the assessment of the future economic situation of the country, 1.8 percentage points for the assessment of the future financial situation of the household and 1 percentage point for the assessment of the current economic situation of the country, its was announced.
Compared to August 2021, the current value of BWUK is 30.3 percentage points lower.
The leading consumer confidence index (WWUK), synthetically describing the individual consumption trends expected in the coming months, fell by 1.4 percentage points. compared to the previous month and amounted to -30.8.
The decrease in the value of the index was mainly influenced by the assessments of the future economic condition of the country and the future financial condition of the household (decreases by 3.3 percentage points and 1.8 percentage points, respectively). The drop by 1.2 percentage points was also recorded for the assessment of the possibility of future saving money. A higher value than a month ago was recorded only for the assessment of the future level of unemployment (an increase by 0.8 percentage points), it further stated.
In August this year. WWUK reached the value of 22 percentage points. lower than in the corresponding month of 2021.
The Central Statistical Office (GUS) reported that 1.9% of the respondents felt a definite fear of losing their job or ceasing to run their own business among working people (60.5% of respondents). For the “possible” and “probably not” options, the response rates were 9.1% and 32.2%, respectively. The percentage of working people who have no concerns was 53.2%. A small number of working respondents (3.6%) had no opinion.
