The Czech government approved a plan to expand the number of companies it will provide salary support for while agreeing on ways to support a virus-infected economy. The salary support will kick in for March wages, according to the Minister for Labor Jana Maláčová, but she didn’t say how long the measures would be in place for. The government agreed last week to help pay for the wages of restaurants and stores and it will help companies who have a significant number of employees placed in quarantine. But the government also extended the ban on non-essential stores from opening to a third week, scheduled to end April 1. Few believe stores will actually open at that time especially since there are currently no plans to open schools before May. The number of confirmed cases of people infected with COVID-19 rose to more than 1,200 by the end of Monday night.
