Czech retail revenues were down slightly in June compared to a year ago, slipping 2 percent compared to June 2019. The Czech Statistics Office reports that the biggest increase in sales came from online orders and courier services. Sales of fuel and groceries fell, while sales of all other items rose nearly 5 percent. In particular, sales at home furnishings stores and sporting goods rose. But it was online sales that showed the strongest growth, jumping 27.8 percent compared to 2019, while specialized stores rose 9.9 percent. “June retail revenues were a slight disappointment in just about all types of goods,” Jakub Seidler told the Czech News Agency. “To a certain extent, that because of the originally optimistic May numbers that were then adjusted slightly and ended up weaker than expected.”
