Czechs budgeting less than CZK 10,000 for Christmas shopping

30 October 2018

A new survey by Essox, Komerční banka’s consumer lending company, found that 70 percent of Czechs are planning to spend less than CZK 10,000 on holiday gifts, while 18 percent estimated they would shell out between CZK 10,000 and CZK 15,000. The remaining 12 percent expect to spend more than CZK 15,000. Essox writes that it’s seen a 16 percent jump in the number of consumer loans compared to last year. Young men living in middle-sized to large cities are the most common customers. One quarter of those surveyed said they’d begun Christmas shopping in October, but Essox says the second wave of shoppers will hit the shores of stores in the second half of November. The most common gifts are clothes and sporting goods.
