€180m reconstruction of KaDeWe in Berlin begins

The iconic KaDeWe department store in Berlin is to be reconstructed in a €180m development scheduled to complete in 2022. KaDeWe is the second largest department store in Europe (after Harrods in London). Construction has begun on the shop windows, which are to be returned to their original size. works on the shop window, which will be restored back to its original size. Rem Koolhaas and his architect studio Büro Oma is in charge of the reconstruction plans. The department store, which first opened in 1907, is part of the The KaDeWe Group (along with the department stores Oberpollinger München and Alsterhaus in Hamburg).
