EC agrees on support mechanisms with Serbian government

20 May 2020

The European Commission and Serbia have come up with recommendations for how the country can further mitigate the impact of Covid-19 on employment and production. They include providing transparent and non-discriminatory support to affected companies, short-term programs to preserve employment and improving social transfers to support lower income individuals who are at risk of poverty or social exclusion.

They also reached agreement on acceptable methods for improving the management of state-owned companies through restructuring. Serbia has been advised to increase the level of support it provides for economic recovery through growth-oriented capital spending.
