Thousands of owners of solar panels in the Czech Republic are breathing easier today following the news that CZK 40bn in promised state support will be paid. The EU commission reached an agreement yesterday with the Czech Republic over the form and terms under which the support will be made available. Hospodarske noviny reports that the matter had been the focus of intense negotiations in recent days. “Finally we have an agreement,” said a highly placed source. The agreement is set to be signed by the end of the week in Brussels. The agreement covers solar generation plants completed between 2006 and 2012 but the deadline for approval ran only until the end of November. Failure to reach agreement would meant the payments would not be made.
