The city of Moscow intends to sue the owners of demolished shopping centers the city had demolished to compensate for damage to buildings and structures caused by the demolition work. A technical report on the 19 pedestrian underpasses in Moscow has been carried out which finds that many suffered damage to their lining, waterproofing and to load bearing structures. The city of Moscow is currently repairing the damage from city coffers, but authorities are preparing to sue the shopping city owners for compensation. The centers were torn down by order of the city following charges that they had been built without proper permits in place. This is disputed by nearly 30 of the center owners and court proceedings are already underway in these cases.
