E-shops and online shipping companies are competing for part time staff to manage the Christmas boom, which is expected to break all previous records. Hospodarske noviny reports that the e-shop association APEK expects sales of around CZK 115bn this year, of which one third will be connected with the holiday sales. However, there are fewer workers than ever to choose from, with an estimated two people applying for every three positions. This has forced the companies to raise their hourly wage to CZK 135 per hour and other to offer employees a finders fee of CZK 500 if they get someone to begin working for the company. Alza.cz is said to need 500 part time people, while Mall.cz is looking for 200 and Datart requires 150.
