First IKEA in Serbia to open Aug. 10

The iconic Swedish furniture company will open its first full-fledged outlet in Serbia on August 10 outside Belgrade in Bubanj potok. Up to 20,000 people are expected to visit the 34,000 sqm store despite the company’s decision to not to offer any discounts. The €70m investment will offer a restaurant for 500 people, a playground, electric car chargers and parking for 1,400 vehicles. In all, the store will have 9,500 items for sale, with most items beings offered online as well. As much as 20 percent of the new outlet’s energy needs will be med by 1,300 installed solar panels.
