Rewe Romania, the company which runs the Penny Market and Penny XXL discount stores, opened five new locations at the end of 2012, bringing its regional network to 142 stores. The five new Penny Markets opened in Cisnadie, Turnu Magurele, Titu, Oltenita and Calarasi.
The first Penny Market in Romania opened in 2005. Rewe Romania has maintained a steady expansion trend over the past couple of years, opening 13 new units in 2011 and 12 more in 2012.
