Florida has the fourth best tax regime in the nation, primarily because it has no income tax. The State Business Tax Climate is a ranking prepared each year by the Tax Foundation, which takes into account five criteria and ranks states in each. Florida came in 17th for corporation tax, tied for first for taxes on individuals, 17th for sales tax rate, 3rd for unemployment insurance taxes and 20th for property taxes. The top five states in the report were Wyoming, South Dakota, Alaska, Florida and Nevada. The Tax Foundation is a Washington, D.C.-based think tank founded in 1937 that collects data and publishes research studies on US tax policies at both the federal and state levels.
