Dan Dodiță, managing director of Spectral Mobilă says it has opened 11 new stores this year, a record number for the company founded 30 years ago, bringing its total to 34 units nationwide.
“Thanks to these new stores opened we managed to have a 15 percent increase in turnover in the first ten months of 2023 compared to the same period last year, while according to data provided by APMR furniture sales in Romania fell by more than 50 percent in the first 6 months of 2023 compared to the first half of last year,” Dan Dodiță said.
He explained that the decline in demand for non-core products, including furniture, is by far the biggest challenge we faced in 2023 “But we managed to manage it by expanding the Spectral Mobilă store network”. Dan Dodiță noted that consumer budgets have been heavily negatively impacted by the galloping inflation of the past two years. In practice, spending on essential goods and services such as food, utilities or bank rates has significantly eroded consumers’ budgets for non-essential goods such as furniture.
