In an effort to grab a bigger market share, furniture retailers are expanding their activities across the Czech Republic. Sconto Nábytek, for example, wants to double the area of its store in Prague-Černý Most after Ikea doubled its department store in the same location three years ago. XXXLutz, meanwhile, is planning to open its second department store in Prague in Vysočany. XXXLutz has also started regional expansion, as it prepares to open its first store outside Prague at a new retail park developed by CTP in Brno. Construction of the new store should start in 2015. Ikea spokesman Tomáš Kubík told the server e15 that the Swedish furniture giant also plans to open additional department stores in the Czech Republic in the future, but it is not yet willing to announce the locations.
