The General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) has signed a contract with Intercor for the construction of the S19 Babica – Jawornik expressway, 11.6 km long, for over PLN 1.2 billion gross, the GDDKiA reported.
The contract provides for the development of a design and the construction of a section of the S19 expressway. The contractor is the Intercor Technical Services Company. The contract value exceeds PLN 1.2 billion gross. This means that five sections of the Via Carpatia route with a total length of 50.5 km are under construction in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, emphasized GDDKiA.
“This is the first contract signed this year. S19 is a key road for the international Via Carpatia route and a great introduction to what awaits us this year. More than 20 tenders for the construction of nearly 317 km of new roads are pending. We will definitely conclude these tenders this year and we will sign new contracts,” said Tomasz Żuchowski, the general director of national roads and highways.
As part of the investment, an 11.6 km long section of an expressway will be built, with a dual carriageway section with two traffic lanes in both directions (plus an emergency lane). A road junction will be built in the vicinity of the villages of Strzyżów and Czudec, at the intersection with the district road No. 1931R. The Jawornik Passenger Service Center (towards Rzeszów) and engineering facilities will also be built. It will be seven flyovers on very high supports, including the largest flyover with a length of approx. 1.2 km and pillars with a height of about 100 m. There will also be six viaducts and three animal crossings (two for medium-sized animals, one for large animals).
