Globus app allows customers to scan goods as they shop

16 November 2018

The hypermarket operator Globus has launched a new application in which customers can choose what they want to buy online before they reach the store. Other people in the shopper’s family can add things to the list from their own phones. After scanning a scan & go code at the store’s entrance, the shopper can use the list which has items placed in the order in which they’re found on the shelves at that particular store. The shopper scans each of the items with her phone as they’re found and can put them directly into bags. At the Scan & Go counters, the shopper simply pays for the goods. Globus is offering the new service in 15 stores. The innovation is part of a push by retailers to learn as much as possible about the habits of their customers in return for making shopping more convenient.
